The Future of Ravnica and Dragon Maze Story

If you look carefully at the flavor text of the guild gates you will see characters slightly raised and most people just glance right over it or assume that its a printing error, but every guild gate has them. These are those letters:

Azorious: tifi
Orzhov: weyo
Dimir: iset
Izzet: hlrc
Rakdos: edaa
Golgari: gsv
Gruul: ltah
Boros: lrce
Selesnya: uon
Simic: dohr

Still doesn’t look like much. But when arranged in order of the card “tablet of the guilds” clockwise and by set you get an encoded message. So if I take only the return to Ravnica guilds and stack them according to their order on the tablet I get:

Azorious: tifi
Izzet: hlrc
Rakdos: edaa
Golgari: gsv
Selesnya: uon

Now if you read the letters downward for example thegu, then start with the second Azorious letter ildso, then the third Azorious letter an so on you get the message “the guilds of ravnica”. Still kind of “meh ok, who cares?” Right? Until you read the gatecrash message here:

Orzhov: weyo
Dimir: iset
Gruul: ltah
Boros: lrce
Simic: dohr

Which says “will destroy each other” so together the complete hidden message is “The guilds of ravnica will destroy each other” so if there was any speculation where Dragon’s Maze is headed – that’s where.
